EHHS DRAMA CLUB POLICIES
What is Drama Club?
The Drama Club provides all students at East Hickman High School a chance to experience theater. Members will have the opportunity to see live theater performances, perform, travel, participate in acting tournaments, and community service.
Regular Membership
In order to become a member of the Drama Club, the student must complete the following entry requirements:
NOTE: Students will only wear mime make up during the initial fall semester induction week.
Students who want to join during the SPRING SEMESTER must complete the following requirements:
- Complete the Membership Application - Click Here
- Wear mime make up for three days (Students can't talk to anyone except: drama club officers, teachers, administrators, and school personnel)
- Participate in a three day performance activity in front of drama club officers/members and inductees.
- On the third day explain why you want to join drama club.
- Pay $3.00 membership fee.

- Be a current theatre arts student. Meaning currently taking the class and in good standing.
- Have a minimum of 2.50 Grade Point Average on your most recent report card.
- Participate in a three day performance activity in front of drama club officers/members and inductees.
- On the third day explain why you want to join drama club.
- Pay $3.00 membership fee.
Officer Membership
In order to become a Drama Club Officer, the student must meet the following requirements:
NOTE: The President officer position will be automatically given to the current Vice President officer for the upcoming year. The Vice President officer position will be given to one of the current Drama Club Officers who will be a junior the upcoming year.

- Been a ACTIVE Drama Club member for one whole school year in good standing.
- Have a 2.75 Grade Point Average
- Give a one-three minute speech before the Drama Club organization about why you should be elected for one of the officer positions.
- Taken & Passed at least (1) Theatre Arts class with a "B" or better.
- Pay $2.00 membership fee.
- Be nominated by at least (2) Drama Club members and (1) current Drama Club officer. Members may only be nominated for the following Drama Club Officer Positions:
- Secretary - Takes notes during all club meetings. Creates the club meeting agenda and works with the Publicity Manager to schedule events and trips.
- Chief Sargent of Arms - Oversees all club members behavior. Escorts behavioral students away from the club meeting
- Deputy Sargent of Arms - Assist the Chief Sargent of Arms with club member behavior. Also, takes role at the club meetings.
- Publicity Manager - In charge of member recruitment, advertisement of events, works with the Secretary to schedule events and trips. Takes pictures at various outings.
- Business Manager - Collect monies for the drama club member fee, T-Shirts, field trips, and tournaments. Maintain a record of the drama club budget.

Annual Fee
There is a annual membership fee of $3.00 for all current and future members each year of membership. The Drama Club officers fee is $2.00 each year of membership as an officer. All fees help support drama club expenses. No refunds will be issued after payment has been made.
Active Membership & Conduct
In order to stay an active member of Drama Club the student must have appropriate conduct and participate in activities such as:
- Drama Club Meetings (every 1st Wednesday of the month)
- THSSDL Tournaments
- Fund Raisers
- ACTS Comedy Play
- ACTS Lip Sync & Dance Show
- Usher Theatre Arts Classes Productions/ ACTS Shows
- Field Trips/Travel
- Community Service
Tennessee High School Speech and Drama Tournaments (T.H.S.S.D.L.)
Members of the drama club have the option of competing in various theater disciplines at near by school districts. Competitions are always held on Saturdays. On competition days students are to report to the school no later than 7:00 AM to ride the bus to the competition. Students who miss the bus will forfeit their entry fees and will not be given a refund.
Drama Club Fund Raisers
Drama Club members will participate in numerous fund raisers that include sales at sports games, the annual school fair, performing in a ACTS Comedy Plays, Lip Sync & Dance Show, and etc. All funds will go toward drama club related expenses.
ACTS Comedy Play & Rehearsals
Once each Fall Semester the drama club will put on a 15 minute comedy play during ACTS class on a Thursday at 1:00 PM in the auditorium. Admission will always be $1.00 and sold prior to the show date. This will require a two day two-hour rehearsal AFTER SCHOOL for students part of the production. Rehearsals will be held on Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 3:00pm-5:00 PM unless changed by the drama club sponsor.
ACTS Lip Sync/Dance Show & Rehearsals
Once each Spring Semester the drama club will put on a 15 minute Lip Sync & Dance Show during ACTS class on a Thursday at 1:00 PM in the auditorium. Admission will always be $1.00 and sold prior to the show date. This will require a two day two-hour rehearsal AFTER SCHOOL for students part of the show. Rehearsals will be held on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3:00pm-5:00 PM unless changed by the drama club sponsor.
Ushering & Discounts
All Drama Club members are asked to support EHHS Theatre Arts Class Productions by ushering on one of the production nights. As a usher you will assist in seating audience members, handing out programs, and monitoring the entrances and exits. Interested students in ushering for one of the productions must notify the drama club sponsor one week in advance.

- Usher (1) Show: $1.00 off (1) annual member fee.
- Usher (2) Shows: $2.00 off (1) annual member fee AND $2.00 off (1) T.H.S.S.D.L. Tournament event entry fee.
- Usher (3) Shows: No (1) annual member fee AND $4.00 off (1) T.H.S.S.D.L. Tournament event entry fee.
- Usher (4) Shows: No (1) annual member fee AND No entry fee for (1) T.H.S.S.D.L. Tournament event.
Field Trips/Summer Travel
At least once a year the drama club will take a field trip to a local theater (Dickson, Nashville, etc.) to see a live production during the school day. Lunch will be provided by the school unless otherwise noted. Students who are absent or not present for any reason on the day of the field trip will not be given a refund.
In the coming years the drama club will be traveling out of state and oversees to participate in various theater activities during the summer.
